Welcome to the 2nd Annual Scout Rifle Match

March 13th, 2011 at the Northwestern Connecticut Sportsmen’s Association
… the way the Colonel would have wanted it…

jeff
What is it?

This is a practical rifle match specifically designed for major caliber, manually operated rifles (MORs) or carbines that meet Jeff Cooper’s Scout Rifle criteria. First shot accuracy from a variety of shooting positions and conditions on 4 MOA targets out to 200 yards is required. Larger MORs and semi-automatic rifles and carbines that meet caliber requirements may compete as well.

Your favorite eastern deer rifle and 2 boxes of cartridges will probably work just fine (see requirements below).

This match is specifically not designed for small caliber AR derivatives.

You can learn more about Jeff Copper’s Scout Rifle concept here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scout_rifle

When is it?

Sunday, 13 March 2011

Shooters meeting starts at 9:00AM on the Rifle Range.

What will I need?

2 Divisions

Scout Rifle – any rifle or carbine less than 8lb in weight* and 40” in length*

Conventional Rifle – any rifle or carbine less than 10 lb in weight* and/or 45” in length*

*dimensions include all accessories (magazines, slings, bipods, etc.) used during the match.

Total match round count = 40 rd

Ammunition/calibers requirements:

*Minimum caliber = 6.5 Swedish Mauser/6.5 Creedmore/260 Remington/6.5X47 Lapua, 120 grain bullet minimum
Maximum caliber = 8 mm Mauser/30-06 Springfield/7.62X54R Russian

No steel core/penetrator ammunition allowed, no magnum calibers, no muzzle velocities over 2900 fps

Optics/sights – any optic or open sights, no lasers

How will it work?

Each course of fire (COF) will require various starting and shooting positions and conditions. These will include using various supports (roof tops, berms, etc.), shooting positions (offhand, prone, kneeling) and negotiating obstacles to engage multiple paper and reactive targets from 50 – 200 yards.

Targets:2/3-sized USPSA paper targets

Steel/reactive targets 3 MOA and larger

Scoring = time + penalties (ICORE scoring)

COF 5 rd max

How much will it cost?

Cost $30

How do I register?
